News: Lion Elastomers New Waterborne Coatings Formulations in CoatingsTech

Aug 6, 2021

Lion Elastomers’ Trilene® Liquid EPDM in waterborne coatings was a focus in CoatingsTech’s August issue. The magazine’s most recent publication featured an article written by Scientist – Trilene® Applications Development, Gregory Brust, and Business Development Director – CASE Markets, John Jacquin.

Trilene® 65D is the liquid dispersed, low molecular weight EPDM polymer used in the formulation studies featured in the article. This polymer, designed for coatings applications, is exceptionally compatible with a wide range of waterborne binders. The article details how blends of Trilene® 65D with other resins form highly flexible and impact resistant coatings with improved wetting over low-energy surfaces.

The low VOC coatings formulations demonstrate how Trilene® Liquid EPDM dispersion has the capability to blend with other waterborne coatings resins. The studies also showcase the ability to use the polymer as a co-binder with waterborne acrylates and alkyds. Read the article for more details on several new dispersion formulations, including direct to metal and high temperature industrial coatings.
