TPV & TPO

Thermoplastic Elastomers Overview

Blends of Royalene® EPDM and thermoplastic polyolefin polymers, when combined with an appropriate curing agent, are used to produce thermoplastic elastomers (TPV). These compounds offer many of the properties of vulcanized EPDM rubber along with the processing advantages and recyclability of thermoplastics. TPVs are used in many automotive applications including air bag covers, door and window seals, and interior trim.

Royalene® EPDM is also an effective modifier for thermoplastic polyolefin resins (TPO). The addition of EPDM to polypropylene or polyethylene imparts improved low temperature properties, superior flexibility and enhanced impact and stress crack resistance.
